Earlier in 2025, Somaya was in a bad motorcycle accident. She was treated in a hospital in Afghanistan by placing 7 pins in her broken hip. Recently, the pins pulled out and the family was told there was no treatment available for her in the country.

The Irene M. Rossi Fund was able to send Somaya and her family to Pakistan for medical treatment. However, once there, the doctors told Somaya that the medical treatment she needed could not be provided until she was 4 to 5 years older. Somaya and her family have returned to Afghanistan where she's coping with her medical situation until she reaches the designated age. At that point, the Irene M. Rossi Fund will assist the family in returning to Pakistan.
